Mrs. Curry was born in Houston, Texas. She began her adventures in the world of dance and the dream to teach at the age of five. She received both her B.A. and M. Ed. in Dance Education with teaching certifications from Sam Houston State University. She was also on faculty with the Sam Houston State University Dance Program, teaching Dance Pedagogy. Mrs. Curry is currently on faculty at Klein Oak High School where she teaches all levels of dance, directs the Klein Oak Dance Company, Oak Break Krew, IB World Dance program as well as the special "Partners in Dance" program that brings developmentally challenged dancers together with neuro-typical dancers. (Partners started at Conroe HS in 1999 and followed Mrs. Curry to KOHS.) Throughout her career, Mrs. Curry has presented numerous workshops across the state regarding choreography, technology integration, curriculum development, program evaluation, and dance certification. She has taught in various private studios, working with ages 3 through 73. She has served the Texas Dance Educators Association in many capacities, culminating with the position of President in 2004-05. Mrs. Curry was on the State Committee on Revising Dance Education Certification Standards, a member of the CEDFA Training Cadre, served on the Board of Directors for CEDFA and has worked on the statewide Dance Education Assessment known as DEAL. Mrs. Curry received the Walter Kase Teaching Excellence award for her program “Partners in Dance.” She has received multiple grants from the Klein Education Foundation for her innovative and collaborative projects. Mrs. Curry received Teacher of the Year at Klein Oak HS in 2017.
